Welcome back to another year of Wellthy Tastings! January means it’s a new year and every new year comes with new resolutions. Were you thinking of going dry or decreasing your alcohol intake as a new year resolution? If so, we’ve got you covered! Today, we’re making mocktails!

Mocktails are all the buzz this year! They’re a fun way to treat yourself and try new flavors while still maintaining a healthy lifestyle! Some benefits of cutting down on alcohol include a better night’s sleep, more energy, improved immune function, and improved overall physical and mental health. Mocktails can also help you discover new flavors and alternatives. Check out our 3 favorite mocktail recipes below!

Grapefruit Thyme Fizz

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • ½ cup thyme syrup
    • 1 cup water
    • ½ cup sugar or sweetener of choice
    • ½ cup loosely packed thyme sprigs
  • 1 ½ cups grapefruit juice
  • 2 cups ice cubes
  • 3 1/3 cups cold soda water

Directions:

  • To make the thyme syrup:
  1. In a small saucepan, combine water and sugar over medium heat, stir until dissolved.
  2. Add thyme and simmer on low for 10 minutes.
  3. Remove from heat and let sit for at least ½ hour and up to 3 hours, strain and cool.
  • To make the mocktail:
  1. Fill glasses with ice cubes
  2. Add 2 tablespoons thyme syrup, 1/3 cup satsuma/grapefruit juice and top with ¾ cup soda water - you will need to stir or shake these to combine everything right? let’s make sure we have what we need for that
  3. Garnish with a slice of grapefruit and a sprig of thyme and enjoy cold.

Green Tea Mocktail

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • 3 green tea bags
  • 1/4 c honey
  • 6 mint springs
  • 3 lemons

Directions:

  1. Bring 6 cups of water to boil. Remove from the heat and add your tea bags, honey, and 3 mint sprigs.
  2. Cover and let set for about 5-10 minutes.
  3. Using a slotted spoon, remove tea bags and mint and gently press to extract any excess liquid.
  4. Slice 2 of your lemons in half and squeeze juice into a small bowl and then slice your remaining lemon into rounds.
  5. Add lemon juice to your tea mixture, divide hot toddy into 6 mugs.
  6. Place lemon slice and remaining mint sprigs for garnish and serve.

Zero Proof Singapore Sling

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • ¾ pomegranate juice
  • ½ cup mango juice
  • ½ cup pineapple juice
  • 10 oz tonic or soda water
  • 4 springs mint

Directions:

  • Combine all fruit juices in a pitcher filled with ice and stir until cold
  • Divide among 4 glasses filled with ice.
  • Top with 2-3 ounces tonic/soda water
  • Garnish with mint sprigs and enjoy cold.
