Marrero Pediatric Care
Compassionate Care for Children
The pediatric unit at West Jefferson Medical Center accommodates patients and their families from birth to 18 years of age. Acute pediatric care is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. In conjunction with a patient's pediatrician, medical care may be directed from one of our pediatric hospitalists.
Admitting diagnoses include but are not limited to:
- Respiratory conditions
- Gastrointestinal conditions
- Metabolic conditions
- Viral disorders
- Surgical conditions
Pediatric outpatient services including procedures, sedation, and diagnostic testing are available Monday through Friday during normal business hours and are scheduled through Central Scheduling Department. Our team consists of many caregivers including hospitalists, registered nurses, nursing assistants, a nutritionist, and a chaplain. Pediatric nurses are PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certified.
To facilitate healing and encourage nutrition, a pediatric menu is used with age-appropriate food. Patient-centered care focuses on the needs of the child and his or her family in a compassionate manner during the emergent, acute, or rehabilitative phases.
