Choosing a specialty in medicine is a unique experience that will make a tremendous impact on the rest of one’s personal and professional life. Specialists can make a difference in patients’ life; their role expands from preventing diseases to curing them. Not to forget alleviating pain that renders cancer patients the most susceptible category to suffering.
I decided to join research groups that lead to advances in the treatment of cancer especially that an important progress has already been achieved on this level and many cancers are nowadays treatable and the overall life expectancy in cancer patients has increased significantly.
This motivation and my true belief that medicine should be a vocational career and not only a conventional job, made me enthusiastic about being a Hematology- Oncology physician.
Dr. Aoun is board certified in Hematology and Oncology as well as Internal Medicine. She has received several awards. Her publications and affiliations are lengthy. The Cancer Center at West Jefferson Medical Center is excited to have Dr. Aoun as a member of the Cancer Center team.
