COPD & asthma

COPD and asthma are two of the most common pulmonary diseases, exhibiting similar symptoms such as shortness of breath, coughing, and wheezing.

COPD is actually an umbrella term for progressive respiratory diseases such as chronic bronchitis and emphysema. Individuals who suffer from COPD experience a progressive decrease in airflow and inflamed airways. COPD is most often contracted due to smoking or exposure to fumes.

Asthma is a condition separate from COPD, but it generally considered a risk factor of COPD. The exact cause of asthma is unknown, but environmental and genetic factors play a role.

Lung cancer

Lung cancer is the number one cause of cancer-related deaths internationally. Like any other cancer, lung cancer is the result of abnormal cell reproduction.

Patients with lung cancer may undergo treatment methods including:

  • Chemotherapy
  • Targeted Therapy
  • Surgery
  • Radiation Therapy

Smoking is generally considered the biggest risk factor for lung cancer development. Quitting smoking is the best way to prevent lung cancer from developing and spreading.
