West Jeff Rehab Aquatic Therapy
Low-impact physical therapy
Aquatic therapy serves as an easier and more convenient form of physical therapy for patients with severe pains and limited mobility. It takes place in a pool, with the buoyancy of water making it easier for patients to move without discomfort. The West Jeff Fitness Center is equipped with the state-of-the-art Swimex Pool, a specialized pool that has multiple stations with various depths to serve patients with various needs. This pool was designed to accommodate low and high intensity protocols to facilitate rapid patient progression without damaging stress on muscles and joints.
Aquatic therapy has many benefits for patients with chronic aches and pains:
- Buoyancy of the water allows for less stress on painful muscles and reduced compression on painful joints
- The water is kept at warmer than typical temperature, allowing for greater relaxation
- While more comforting to the body, being submerged in water also provides resistance to the bodies’ movements, which strengthens muscles
