Your baby is dependent upon you for love, affection, care, feeding and protection. Before the baby is born you should start learning how to care for your baby. Your doctor, the baby’s doctor, the local library or bookstore are places to start.

Caring for Your Newborn, a prenatal class offered by The Family Birth Place, can also help you and the baby’s father learn how to care for the baby. The basics of baby care including bathing, feeding, care of the cord and common newborn problems are some of the topics included in this class, led by Registered Nurses.

  • ABC’s of Breastfeeding

Difficulty breastfeeding is very common. We have seen many mothers become distraught when they have difficulty breastfeeding, but this is nothing to be ashamed of. Every baby is different and not all of them will have an easy time figuring out how to latch. It is not a statement about you and your child; it’s just something you can both learn together. Sign up for our breastfeeding class for help from experienced lactation consultants.

  • Labor and Birth

The Labor and Birth class is designed to help expectant parents understand the process of labor and birth. The class includes information on pain management, C-section births, and common labor and delivery procedures. Information on the changes you will experience after childbirth is also discussed during the class. All expectant mothers and their spouses or partners are encouraged to attend this free class.

Also includes a tour of the Family Birth Place
