New Chief Operating Officer Joins West Jefferson

Effective today, Dodie McElmurray, FACHE is the new Chief Operating Officer (COO) for West Jefferson Medical Center (WJMC). Please help us welcome her to our hospital family. A native of Mississippi, McElmurray comes to West Jefferson with more than twenty years of nursing and healthcare leadership experience.

McElmurray most recently served as the Chief Operating Officer for the 208-bed Greenwood Leflore Hospital in Greenwood, MS, from 2014-present and as Administrator of Clinical Support Services (a role that mirrors the COO responsibilities at WJMC) at the 256-bed University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson from 2006-2014. In her roles, she was responsible for integrating the strategic plans of the organizations, providing management oversight for the development of high-quality, cost-effective, and integrated clinical programs within the
hospitals.

Cassagne, President and CEO of West Jefferson. “In her prior roles, she oversaw the redesign and implementation of new quality structures and programs to include physician leadership and she helped establish initiatives which resulted in improved care metrics. Dodie is looking forward to continuing the successes we have here at West Jefferson Medical Center with patient safety excellence being ranked among the top 5% in the nation.”

West Jefferson was also recently recognized as America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Stroke Care by Healthgrades and was the only hospital in the Greater New Orleans area to be named Top 5% in the Nation for Patient Safety Excellence by Healthgrades, the leading online resource for hospitals and physicians.

McElmurray has a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Nursing as well as a Master’s of Business Administration. Across her distinguished career, McElmurray has volunteered for many community and business organizations in a leadership capacity and she looks forward to becoming involved in our local community.
