WJ Hospital Foundation Elects New Board Officers and Directors

The board of directors of the West Jefferson Hospital Foundation recently elected new officers and directors.

Foundation board trustee and local business leader Jack Stumpf of Jack Stumpf and Associates was elected as president; Karen Ward as vice-president and Steve Brown as secretary-treasurer.

Mr. Stumpf’s community, business and civic associations include: the Friends of Jefferson the Beautiful, the Westbank Railroad Transportation Authority, the Jefferson Business Council, Jefferson Edge, the Regional Planning Commission, the Westbank Rotary Club, the Harvey Canal Industrial Association, the Iberia Bank Advisory Board, the Jefferson Chamber of Commerce and the Bureau of Governmental Affairs.

At the annual meeting, the Board also elected a new board member: Charles Frederick of Boomtown Casino. In addition, the 2013 trustees were also elected. These are Garey Alimia, immediate past president; Jean Kass Connick; Charles G. Jones; Woody Oge; Stanton Salathe; Judy Sullivan; Mike Vira; and Rudy Sampey of the Hospital Auxiliary.

The West Jefferson Hospital Foundation, a 501 c (3) not-for-profit charitable organization, is the philanthropic arm of West Jefferson Medical Center formed in 2004 to support the hospital’s mission.

Gifts to the Foundation have supported many patient-centered programs and initiatives including adult day care, women’s services, oncology services and the new Cancer Center, cardiovascular care including scales for patients and support groups at the Medical Center.

Through the generosity of donors, the Foundation operates the Care House. Since the summer of 2010, more than 1600 nights of complimentary lodging have been provided in the Care House for families of patients in critical care at West Jefferson.

The Hospital Foundation’s signature event is the West Jeff Family Festival being held in 2013 on Saturday, October 19.
