Dance Under Oak Trees at the
Moonlight & Martinis Gala

Moonlight & Martinis... Making a Difference is an exciting fundraiser benefiting the Cancer Center at West Jefferson Medical Center. This special event will help West Jefferson continue to offer world-class cancer care in a comfortable, family-oriented environment. The night will feature the inspirational and heartwarming story of Dr. Jennifer Arnold of TLC’s The Little Couple, along with scrumptious food, a martini bar and much more, all in elegant surroundings. The Charmaine Neville Band will provide tremendous music. Award-winning journalist Norman Robinson will serve as guest live-auctioneer offering trips and more that will add to the splendor of the evening. Moonlight & Martinis will be an evening of revelry and merrymaking for an important cause. Exceptional lighting and golden décor will be a fitting tribute to West Jefferson Medical Center’s 55th anniversary of notable service to its patients and our community.

Special Guest - Dr. Jennifer Arnold – TLC’s The Little Couple

Dr. Jennifer Arnold – TLC’s The Little Couple While Dr. Jennifer Arnold is just 3’2” tall, she towers in her ability to handle life’s challenges. Her journeys, becoming a mother through adoption and her battle with cancer, have been well-documented on the popular TLC Show, The Little Couple.

In December of 2013, Dr. Arnold revealed she had stage 3 choriocarcinoma, a rare form of cancer. Dr. Arnold bravely shared her cancer journey on The Little Couple.

In episodes of The Little Couple, Dr. Jen has inspired us and on the evening of November 7th, joins us on the West Bank of Jefferson Parish with a message for cancer survivors, their families and caregivers.

Why

Who of your friends or family has been touched by Cancer? What was their cancer journey like? At the Cancer Center at West Jefferson Medical Center, patients and families are surrounded by health professionals who care about each patient, each family and every outcome.

The Cancer Center has the latest in technology, facilities and programs, including:

  • CyberKnife Center - Only one in the region.
  • 8,000 Square Foot Infusion Center - Home-like decor and family atmosphere.
  • Lung Cancer Screening Center of Excellence - Recognized by the Lung Cancer Alliance - Only one in Louisiana.
  • Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons - Accreditation- Silver Level Commendation through 2016.

Medical care alone is not the only factor in caring for cancer patients. The Cancer Center offers:

  • Transportation Assistance - The Cancer Center helps cover the cost of cab fare for patients that do not have a way to get to their chemotherapy treatment. Just knowing that a cab is picking up a patient helps alleviate some of their stress.
  • Nutritional Support - The Cancer Center nutritionist works with each patient and caters to their nutritional plan to meet their needs.
  • Support Groups - Meetings to support patients and their caregivers.
  • Massage Therapy - Patients and caregivers are offered massages during their treatment to help reduce stress.
  • Nourishment Stations - The Cancer Center offers breakfast, lunch and snacks.
  • Cooking Classes - Provides recipes and demonstrations/tastings to patients to give them the nutrition and knowledge they need while going through chemotherapy.
  • Courage Caps Group - Volunteers knit caps for cancer patients to help them deal with body image changes and to let them know that others care.

At the Cancer Center, patients and families will find an oncology team of specialists including: physicians, nurse navigators, certified oncology nurses, researchers, social workers, nutritionist, chaplain and a financial counselor. These individuals touch the lives of thousands of patients and their loved ones each and every year. From getting patients to the center, to providing them a good meal, to making sure they are offered world-class medical care, the Cancer Center team is here to help patients in any way possible.

All of the proceeds from this fundraiser go directly to the Cancer Center at West Jefferson Medical Center.

During Moonlight & Martinis... Making a Difference, the community will come together to benefit the Cancer Center at West Jefferson Medical Center. Help our patients and their families know they are not alone. May we count on you? We know our patients are counting on you.
