West Jefferson is well respected regionally and nationally for excellence in patient care. West Jefferson
Medical Center, a 427 bed not-for-profit hospital located in Marrero, Louisiana, resides on a more than 20 acre
sprawling campus just minutes from downtown New Orleans. Situated near vast industrial and maritime corridors,
West Jefferson Medical Center serves area industry as well as the citizens of Jefferson parish and the region.
The West Bank, located south of the Mississippi River, contains the unincorporated areas of Marrero, Harvey, Terrytown,
Crown point, Lafitte and Waggaman, while Gretna, Westwego and Jean Lafitte are incorporated. The Town of Grand Isle is
located on a barrier island in the Gulf of Mexico.
On campus, companies will find a Return to Work Center, outpatient physical and occupational rehabilitation as well
as cardiac rehabilitation. West Jefferson Medical Center is the regional leader in acute, preventative and
rehabilitative healthcare services for the West Bank of Jefferson parish and its surrounding communities.
The Medical Center, a full service community hospital, offers comprehensive services for patients and their families
which begin with emergency services complemented by heart and vascular care; neuroscience services including a dedicated
stroke unit certified by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations; orthopedic services; diagnostic
imaging; a cancer program accredited by the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons; and women's
services. West Jefferson is known for its adult and pediatrics programs including a NICU Level III Nursery.
From acute care to rehabilitative care, programs are available in occupational health, stroke and spinal cord injury
rehabilitation.
A community hospital, West Jefferson Medical Center continues to respond to the needs of its community. The Medical
Center features several neighborhood Family Doctors primary care clinics and the West Jefferson Medical Center
Adult Health Day Care Center on Bellemeade Boulevard where families will find a host of support groups, counseling
services, an intensive adult day partial program, a seniors program and assistance for substance abuse. Free
confidential screening assessments and an EAp (Employee Assistance program) are also available.
An Alzheimer's Adult Health Day Care program opened in 2002 at the Bellemeade Boulevard location. Keeping our community
well and preventing disease are part of our vision. The Fitness Centers represent an enhanced concept in community
and family-focused fitness, with qualified staff members guiding customers in the use of state of the art exercise
equipment and in programs addressing every dimension of wellness including physical, emotional, social, intellectual
and spiritual. Corporate, military and senior citizen rates are available. The Fitness Center-Marrero is
located on the main campus and features an Aquatic Center with a multi-purpose pool, whirlpool and SwimEx Aquatic
Therapy pool. The Fitness Center-Oakwood is located in the Wellness Complex, a 46,000 square foot facility
which opened in 2003 near Oakwood Shopping Center in Terrytown, Louisiana. The Wellness Complex also houses
The Family Doctors primary care practice and Outpatient Rehabilitation Services.
