Nursing Care Units at West Jefferson
Nurses are a familiar site at West Jefferson Medical Center providing care to patients and their families in a
wide variety of settings. Nurses work in the Emergency Department, Critical Care (including Intensive Care,
Coronary Care and Surgical Cardiac Care as well as Post Anesthesia Care Unit) or other Specialized Units as
well as Medical-Surgical Units. Other nurses may be found working in diagnostic service areas, the Family
Doctors clinics, Case Management or in a variety of other roles.
Nurses treat inpatients as well as outpatients. Look for nurses in surgical services and other centers of care
such as Hyperbarics and Wound Care, Family Birth Place, and Newborn Nursery. Others work in dedicated units such
as the Stroke Unit or the Rehab Unit. Nursing Administration is led by a chief nursing officer and senior directors
of nursing. Nursing Administration can be found on the first floor of the hospital near the Women's and Children's
Shop. Nursing Units are identified on signage at each elevator on every floor. In addition, Guest Services can be of
assistance in helping one to find a particular nursing unit. Guest Services is located on the first floor in the
Atrium. For additional information, refer to the Patient Visitor Guide which is published on this web site.
West Jefferson Medical Center opened its doors in April 1960. Through its distinguished history, it has had
